Presence in the Strait

Accidental. Seen on 14.01.91 at Marismas del Palmones and on 16.01.98 at Castilnovo Beach (Coníl). ad.W

Identification

As small as the Little Stint, but having more greyish-brown plumage, pale legs and finer, slightly curved bill. Originates from Scandinavia and N Russia. Scolopacidae Glareolidae ad.E ad.W Correlimos Tridáctilo ad.W Correlimos Común ad.E ad.W ad.E Correlimos Menudo Correlimos Oscuro Calidris marítima / Purple Sandpiper L 20-22 / E 40-44 / P 75 85 Estatus: Invernante rara muy localizada en las costas rocosas entre Tarifa y Algeciras, especialmente en Punta Secreta (<6). Fuera de este área se observaron dos aves el 24.12.86 en Ceuta. Identificación: Parecida al Correlimos Común pero algo mayor, más robusta, oscura y con pico y patas amarillas. Movimientos: Llegan en noviembre y se pueden observar hasta marzo. Status: Rare winter visitor very localised along the rocky coastline running from Tarifa to Algeciras, particularly at Punta Secreta (<6). Outside of this area, two birds were seen on 24.12.86 in Ceuta. Identification: Similar to Dunlin but slightly larger, more robust, darker with yellowish base to bill and orange legs.

Movements

Arrive in November and may be seen until March.
