Presence in the Strait
Rare summer visitor to open areas, commoner during migration. It disappeared before the ‘70s and has been found again breeding at Malcocinado (Benalup) and in the Tarifa area between Tahivilla and La Zarzuela.
Identification
Very similar to a Whitethroat but smaller with more rufous in wings. Males have pinkish tones on underparts, white throat, pale eye ring, greyish head, dark tail and white outer tail feathers. Females have brown tones on the head. Pale legs.
Movements
Peaks in 1st hf. April and 1st hf. September.
