Common summer visitor to wooded areas near water.

Identification

Males, unmistakable. Females are less colourful, with dark wings, a yellow rump, greenish upperparts and pale, finelystreaked breast. Juveniles are similar to females but lack red bill. Undulating flight, similar to woodpeckers.
