Presence in the Strait

Rare winter visitor to wet regions (<15), more common during migration.

Identification

Similar to the Black-tailed Godwit but with dark rufous summer plumage and brownish-grey winter plumage with streaks. In flight, displays faint bars on tail and lacking wing-bars.

Movements

Prenuptial migration peaks in 2nd hf. April and 1st hf. May; postnuptial in 1st hf. September.
