Presence in the Strait

Accidental. One bird on Los Lances beach on 28.08.88.

Identification

Intermediate appearance between Godwits and Snipes. Clearly defined dark lores and pale supercilium in all plumages. In flight, barred tail and rump, white ‘cigar’ on back and plain wings with white rear edge. In summer plumageunderparts rusty-orange; upperparts brown-black with chestnut flecks. Winter plumage essentially grey. Originates from NE Siberia.
