Presence in the Strait
Occasional migrant. Eight isolated records of birds on prenuptial migration, all in Ceuta in March (1) and April (4); and, on postnuptial migration, all hunted in the North of the Strait of Gibraltar in September (1) and October (3).
Identification
Very difficult to observe. Similar in Rallidae juv. ad. Gallineta Común juv. ad. Calamón Común Guión de Codornices size to a partridge, but with a weak fluttering flight action, dangling feet and chestnut wings. They come from Northern and Central Europe and migrate to the W of the Iberian Peninsula.
