Scarce summer visitor to round-leaved oak woods with scrub. In 1999 there were signs of breeding in the South of the area, at Los Alacranes mountain pass (Algeciras).
Identification
Small and easy to detect by its continuous dry clicking call «tec, tec». Males have an unmistakable plumage, with lead-grey upperparts, white moustachial stripe and brick-red underparts. Females have duller tones, with brownish upperparts and pinkish underparts. Both sexes have a red eye ring and pale legs.
