Abundant resident in cities, on farmlands and forests. Very rare at the end of the 19th Century, found only to the N of Benalup; at the end of the ‘20s they appeared in Vejer de la Frontera and since the ‘40s have been rapidly expanding throughout the whole territory.
Identification
Summer plumage is black with a purple gloss and a yellow bill. Winter plumage is dull black with fine pale spots and a dark bill. Pinkish legs. Juveniles are plain dullish brown.
Déplacements
After breeding, they form flocks and move to more suburban areas, with peaks in October, returning to their breeding sites between February and April, with peaks in March.
