Présence dans le détroit

Rare winter visitor to coastal wetlands, normally the Marismas del Palmones. More common during migration.

Identification

Unmistakable. Juveniles are grey-brown with dark legs lacking pink and red tones.

Déplacements

Other than migration they disperse and are nomadic throughout the wetlands in the Western Mediterranean and the Atlantic coast of Africa as far south as Senegal. Peaks in the Strait region in 2nd hf. March and 2nd hf. September.

Reprises de bagues

From the two most important colonies in Europe: 91 birds from La Camargue in France (especially in February, October and November) and 17 birds from Fuente de Piedra in Málaga. Threskiornithidae
