Présence dans le détroit
Scarce resident in eucalyptus woodland on farmland. First recorded as a breeding species at the end of the 19th Century, but no breeding again until 1987.
Identification
Males differ from a House Sparrow in their red-brown crown and white cheeks. In summer show larger black bib and bold black-streaked pattern above and below. In winter, reduced bib and streaks. Females are almost always impossible to distinguish from those of the House Sparrow, although sometimes have paler and grey-streaked underparts.
Déplacements
Peaks in April and October.
