Common resident of open areas with scattered trees. Numbers increasing. During winter they usually form small flocks.

Identification

Compact bird that can be confused with a Crested Lark, but with a shorter white-tipped tail and smaller, less obvious crest. In flight it has short, broad wings with obvious small black and white area at bend of wing, also visible when perched. Buffish back with black streaking, bold supercilium and streaked chest with pale underparts.

Déplacements

Peaks in 1st hf. February and 2nd hf. October.

Reprises de bagues

Adult bird ringed on 3.05.87 in Soria controlled on 30.11.87 at El Gastor (Cadiz), 534 Km. away.
